Today he shared his new single "Drinkin' Friends," a blue collar punch that recalls timeless churning honky tonk from the likes of George Strait and Mark Chestnutt.

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (Lyric Video)

50th ANNIVERSARY OF
MARVIN GAYE’S
WHAT’S GOING ON
With New Videos, Jac Ross Cover, Young Guru Remix,
Mural Art by Dreph, and More!

May 21, 2021 (Los Angeles) -- With his brother Frankie back from Vietnam and struggling to find a job, the Earth showing signs of ecological distress, police brutality at a protest in Berkeley, and a boiling point of inequality in black urban neighborhoods, Marvin Gaye wrote a poignant plea that we might organize to address these often-overlooked issues. Fifty years later, the influence and meaning behind one of R&B’s first seamless concept albums, What’s Going On, continues to ring true. Calling out to a broken country, Gaye searched for reason and hope in a world that felt desperate and senseless. He opened the door musically, culturally, and politically for countless musicians over the last five decades to address, with a vulnerable depth and complexity, the injustices of our world.

To honor this momentous record and celebrate Gaye’s life and legacy, Motown/UMe are introducing, today (May 21, 2021), exactly 50 years from the album’s original release, a charge of releases that both conserve and reimagine the essence of What’s Going On.

COURSE Release Anticipated Debut Album
A Late Hour

Embraced By ConsequenceAtwood,
Under The RadarAmerican Songwriter,
And More

May 21, 2021 - After months of teasing new singles, Chicago's up-and-coming synth/indie/pop group Course released today their anticipated debut album A Late Hour. Available everywhere, it also features a collection of nine short stories written by singer/guitarist Jessica Robbins that accompanies each song on the record. Stream or purchase the album HERE.

Course announced their debut earlier this year with the release of their lead single "Give It All Away," which Under The Radar called "a lush dream pop tapestry." It was followed by the "optimistic" (Consequence) standout single "Sixteen" and "Nick of Time," which was featured as American Songwriter's Daily DiscoveryAtwood Magazine also chose the band as one of their 2021 Artists To Watch and stated, "Course have set themselves apart as an intimately expressive alternative band brimming with irresistibly catchy tunes, cathartic emotions, and utterly stunning energy."

Comprised of veteran musicians Robbins, Chris Dye (drums), Dan Ingenthron (synth/keys), Mikey Russell (guitar), and Brian Weekly (bass), Course blends diverse aspects of dream-pop, 90's new-wave, alternative, electronic, and indie rock. Drawing on Robbins' indie-folk roots, Course incorporates polished, modern production and lush electronic instrumentation to create songs with a characteristic ethereal-industrial sheen.

Course recorded the bulk of A Late Hour in the desert town of Dripping Springs, TX with producer Dan Duszynski (of Subpop group Loma), who's studio is set up among a series of airstream trailers. Bright but with depth, the album offers a collection of elegantly upbeat reflections on life and love - though not without somber moments. It's an album filled with intricate and sweeping stories - literally. At one point while writing lyrics, Robbins found herself stuck, so she devised another way into the songs: She wrote narrative fictional short stories to accompany and elaborate each track. The stories will be released in a Chapbook this July.

This week, Browne shared the music video for "My Cleveland Heart," directed by

The Wandering Hearts - Dreams (Official Audio)

THE WANDERING HEARTS

SHARE THE NEW SONG "DREAMS"
Written By MARTY STUART and CONNIE SMITH

LISTEN HERE / WATCH THE VISUALISER HERE

NEW SELF-TITLED ALBUM FOLLOWS ON JULY 30TH

The Wandering Hearts had already enjoyed the phenomenal experience of recording their second album deep in the Catskills with producers Simone Felice and David Baron, but their adventure would be extended with another remarkable chapter. They met up with the legendary Marty Stuart (a five-time Grammy Award winner and a former member of Johnny Cash’s band) in Nashville, who offered them "Dreams," a song he had written with his wife, the country star Connie Smith. They then headed to the iconic Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, where he joined the band, playing mandolin and guitar on the record. It was fortunate timing, as COVID-19 halted all international travel just a few days later.

The result is The Wandering Hearts’ brand new song "Dreams," which fuses timeless ‘60s Americana with contemporary production. As ever, the band’s exquisite vocals are remarkable as AJ Dean-Revington’s velvet baritone is enveloped by luscious harmonies from Chess Whiffin and Tara Wilcox. "Dreams" is the latest track to preview their eagerly anticipated self-titled album, which follows on July 30th. Watch the visualizer HERE.

Luna Li - Alone But Not Lonely (Official Video)

Toronto native multi-instrumentalist and producer, Luna Li (aka Hannah Kim) has shared her new single "Alone But Not Lonely." The lush orchestral composition places Luna Li’s technical proficiency in the spotlight as she kicks the song off with a sweeping melody played on the violin before dropping into a smoldering funk groove with ethereal synth pads and vocal harmonies to boot. After her graceful and confident chants of instantly memorable self-assurance, the song crescendos into a massive guitar hook that rises and falls with beautiful simplicity and acts as the antidote to her loneliness.

Fires

Critically-acclaimed and award-winning artist and songwriter Ina Wroldsen is a straight-talking, uncensored, funny, honest and fiercely independent role model. On her new single "Fires",  the multi-platinum-selling artist tackles motherhood in that same emotionally-unfiltered manner and relates her feelings of it as a double-edged sword. "A child is this amazing gift, but they're only on loan," she sighs. "We spend their childhood in preparation... preparing them for life, and preparing ourselves for the day they will leave us."

Taken from her upcoming EP Matters of the Mind (release date: May 28, 2021 via Sony Music Norway), "Fires" pulls at the heartstrings without being melodramatic or overwhelmingly sappy. Written during a songwriting session in Los Angeles, she pondered on that day when her son will grow up and leave her.

Adapting the symbolism of seafarers lighting seaside bonfires for ship captains to find the shores safely, she explains, "I make sure I have enough firewood so he can see my flame wherever in the world he finds himself. I need for him to know that there is warmth, acceptance and safety at home with the people who love him the best.” Wroldsen often thinks about how many parents are sitting there with “little ships about to launch out into the world and all the family bonfires kept alight by grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, mothers and fathers.” She adds, "‘Fires’ is for my William... for him to know that there will always be a safe harbor with us for him to return to wherever life may take him. And if he is ever in doubt, then Imma light fires, so you can find me. Imma light fires.”

I’m gathering wood / I’m cutting down trees / I’m keeping it dry like my father taught me / I’m doing fake smiles / It’s inevitable /
Matter of time then you’re gonna leave me

“Fires” comes on the heels of previously released singles off of Matters of the Mind, the intoxicating tropical-pop tinged "We Are Gonna Live" (which has been sitting in the top 100 Spotify-chart since release) and the slinky r&b number, "Matters."

As a solo artist, Wroldsen has had multi-platinum success with memorable songs such as “Strongest” (4x platinum), “Mother” (2x platinum), “Favela” (platinum) and “Haloes” (platinum). Wroldsen is also the songwriter behind international smash hits such as “Rockabye” and “Symphony” by Clean Bandit, “Alarm” by Anne Marie, “Breathe” by Jax Jones, “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris (which she's also the lead vocalist on), and many more with a total of seven billion + global streams on written and performed tracks. She’s won several BMI / ASCAP Awards, a Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy), Brit Award Nomination and is one of the most sought-after songwriters out there. Wroldsen is currently a mentor on the Norwegian The Voice where the finale coincides with the release of her Matters of the Mind EP in May. But even if her list of merits is impressive, she’s isn’t one to be motivated by streaming numbers, chart toppers or awards saying, “It’s not about writing a hit, but telling a story, expressing something true through the lyrics and the melody.”

Ina Wroldsen’s new single "Fires" is out now. Her new EP, Matters of the Mind, will be released on May 28, 2021 via Sony Music Norway.
