Jake La Botz Shares New Single
“Let It Fall”

Announces Tattoo Across America Tour

New Album Hair On Fire out September 9

Jake La Botz shares “Let It Fall,” final single off his upcoming album Hair On Fire, out on September 9, 2022. As the album opener, the driving “Let It Fall” sets the stage, with La Botz questioning what would happen if the whole world were able to let go of the disguises we wear on a daily basis and instead face each other with total honesty and vulnerability. “Will you let it fall?” he asks over a muted guitar and chiming piano. “Will you let it all wash away?”

La Botz has also announced his exciting Tattoo Across America Tour, where he’ll be playing in mostly local tattoo shops across the country, with a few traditional venues and some other unusual places along the way, including a homeless shelter in Boise, a “Blues, Tattoos & Recovery” seminar in Indianapolis, and the Outsiders House Museum in Tulsa, which the executive director for, and rapper, Danny Boy O'Connor (House of Pain/La Coka Nostra) personally booked La Botz for. See full list of tour dates below.

Stream/purchase “Let It Fall” HERE

“I don’t know if this relates to being a performer,” La Botz tells DittyTV about the track, “but there seems to me to be something ‘performative’ in the way people (all of us) present ourselves – our opinions, how we want to be seen in the world. All kinds of masks that we wear whether or not we are professional performers. My question here is what’s under there, and what happens if we let the covers fall away? Or are we forced to give them up in the midst of a world that is coming apart at the seams?”

“Let It Fall” follows previous singles “Hope The Sunshine” and title track, “Hair On Fire,” which Holler said, “Imagine the gospel fervour of Pastor T.L. Barrett and the Youth For Christ Choir mixed up with the energetic neo-folk of Arcade Fire and the contemporary rootsiness of The Lumineers and you might be getting somewhere close to the sound that La Botz has pulled together on ‘Hair On Fire’... It’s both heavily indebted and oddly anachronistic. A loose fusion of floor thumping country, hand-clapping gospel folk and low down and dirty delta blues, as unexpected as it is familiar, that lifts up and shakes out your soul."

“There’s a saying in Buddhism,” La Botz, who is also a meditation teacher, explains of the title track, “that one should practice as if their hair is on fire, which means there should be an urgency towards using the tools of meditation to open up and see what is. The message is: life is short and, if you want to wake up and discover what it’s about, now is the time."

Like other spiritually motivated songwriters before him, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison to name a few, the two streams of songwriting and spirituality have very much come together for La Botz. Prior to Covid, he taught meditation in prisons, Buddhist centers, living rooms, and elsewhere, ever looking to meet people where they’re at and to share what meditation has to offer. For La Botz both meditation and music are very important points of connection with others, and sometimes his music fans even end up practicing meditation with him. During the pandemic he has continued to focus on his two primary loves the best way he can - teaching meditation over Zoom for people around the world, and writing and recording songs to share with others.

Over the years, Jake’s work has been praised by Rolling Stone, World Cafe, No Depression, Folk Alley, Atwood Magazine, American Songwriter, PopMatters, Glide, Bluegrass Situation, and many more.

La Botz recently signed with Mongrel Music for North American booking, and announced a handful of tour dates for this Summer/Fall, including his Tattoo Across America Tour. See full list of dates below, and ticket info HERE.

Jennifer Hartswick - By The River (Official Lyric Video)

Jennifer Hartswick Shares Lyric Video for

New Album Something in the Water
Out September 9th Via Brother Mister Productions

Jennifer Hartswick Shares Lyric Video for

Acclaimed vocalist, trumpeter and composer Jennifer Hartswick has shared a lyric video for her new song “By the River.” Glide Magazine describes it as “Reflecting the festive sounds of Dr. John, Jon Batiste, and Irma Thomas; this winner surely deserves to be heard on one of the early afternoon stages at the next NOLA Jazz Fest.” The song is the latest single from Hartswick’s upcoming album, Something in the Water, which will be released on September 9th via Christian McBride’s Mack Avenue Music Group imprint, Brother Mister Productions and is currently available for preorder here.

or right here

"I wrote ‘By the River’ as a celebration of childhood,” writes Hartswick. “A celebration of the spirit of wonderment. I used to go out to the river and forests behind my house and sing Anita Baker songs as loud as I could! That’s where I cultivated who I would become."

“By the River” follows Hartswick’s recent single “Only Time Will Tell,” which was acclaimed by Relix, Live For Live Music and more.

Reprising her studio collaboration with renowned bassist and dear friend McBride, the highly sought-after singer and trumpeter interprets nine new tracks comprised of original repertoire and fresh arrangements of familiar songs alongside her core ensemble and featured guests. Co-written with guitarist and album producer Nick Cassarino, Something in the Water presents a tender portrait of the human condition, brimming with humor and vulnerability. “We wanted to celebrate the human experience,” says the Nashville-based artist. “We wanted to write about all facets of love and life and loss and gain. There’s definitely an arc of someone’s life in this album.”

Hartswick is a true working artist. For the past two decades, the small-town girl turned powerhouse professional has appeared at clubs and arenas throughout the world, in diverse ensembles and as a founding member of the Trey Anastasio Band (TAB); her buoyant expression and harmonic reflexes have become integral to the project’s signature sound. To her original music, Hartswick brings effervescing spontaneity and degrees of self-disclosure. Her songs intensify. She layers sound on sound, stacking horns, threading vocals and seeking opportunities for instrumental role-shifting and conversational trades. In addition to those from McBride and Cassarino, Something in the Water features contributions from longtime collaborators drummer Conor Elmes, vocalist Celisse Henderson and keyboardist Rob Marscher, as well as trombonists Natalie Cressman and Roy Agee, among other special guests.

Recorded at Sound Emporium alongside engineer Joe Costa, and mixed and mastered by Greg Magers and Dan Shike, respectively, Something in the Water came to life in Nashville following an impromptu writing retreat in New England. Hartswick and Cassarino spent a week and a half at a closed bed and breakfast in Vermont during the winter of 2021; there, they focused on composing the entire record in a controlled environment, with lyric input from songwriter Erin Boyd. “We’d write and cook and write and cook and laugh and cry and write and cook,” says Hartswick. “That was the purpose of the trip, to see if we could write an album.”

Over the years, Hartswick’s sound has evolved and refined. She views her horn and her voice as different facets of a single expression that shapeshifts as she enters new phases of life and work. Something in the Water presents a snapshot of one moment’s present tense. She appreciates her listeners’ willingness to explore each discovery alongside her: “My music is blossoming. More life has been lived and evolution is happening. I hope people who listen do so with an open heart.”

Country Music Hall of Famer and 5-Time Grammy
Winner Marty Stuart Announces Worldwide Signing with Snakefarm / Universal

Headline European Tour Set for August / September, First In Over A Decade, With New Music, North America To Follow This Fall

Portrait / Credit: Alysse Gafkjen

August 12, 2022: Snakefarm, a label housed under the Spinefarm Music Group and owned by UMG, is proud to confirm the worldwide signing of Marty Stuart – singer / songwriter / musician / photographer / country music icon and curator-in-chief of its glorious history.

A headline European tour has already been announced for August / September of this year, which will see Marty and his Fabulous Superlatives Kenny Vaughan, Harry Stinson and Chris Scruggs – visiting the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Marty’s first European outing in over a decade, this run of 13 shows includes a debut appearance at The Long Road Festival in Leicestershire (UK). Following his European tour, Stuart will perform at Pilgrimage Music Festival in Franklin, TN and hit the road for a fall US tour.

Stuart remarked about the announcement, “I like the idea of joining forces with Snakefarm. I am intrigued by the global mindset and the aura of musical integrity that surrounds the brand. I look forward to a long line of thrilling musical escapades in the days ahead.”

Dante Bonutto, Snakefarm’s A&R, added, “As long-time supporters of the great man and his music, it’s with much pride that we welcome Marty Stuart to Snakefarm. The intention with the label has always been to shine a spotlight on the very best in roots music, its sacred traditions and values, and when it comes to an artist who lives, breathes, loves and protects these values, Marty Stuart is in a class of his own. We look forward to a long and exciting journey ahead, and we’re aware that we’ll have to spectacularly up our game on the fashion front!”

Jonas Nachsin, General Manager, Worldwide of Spinefarm Music Group, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Marty Stuart to our growing Snakefarm roster. It is a distinct honor to have him join the label as we expand its scope around the world.”

True country music royalty with a deep-seated love of country, bluegrass, rock and more, Marty Stuart’s induction to the Grand Ole Opry took place a full 30 years ago, and he’s the recipient of a slew of accolades and honors, including multiple Grammy awards, Platinum sales awards, BMI awards, plus Country Music Association and Americana Music Association awards.

He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2020 and has over 20 major label studio albums to his name in a career that is now entering its fifth decade, cementing Stuart’s longevity as an icon in country music.

In addition to his activities in the studio, on the road with the Superlatives (now celebrating 20 years together) and behind the camera, this compelling, flamboyant performer plays a vital role in the preservation of Country music’s legacy, and his unique collection of artifacts, around 20,000 cherished items, includes images, instruments and outfits from the greatest names in American roots music.

Mississippi native Stuart has toured with such legends as Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash, and at the moment, he is raising funds for the Marty Stuart Congress of Country Music – a cultural center in his hometown of Philadelphia, MS, which will protect, curate and celebrate the traditions of a genre free from gizmos and gimmickry, heavy on heart and soul.

New music is on the way, more details on this shortly, but in the meantime, Marty Stuart remains as active as ever, even finding time to release books with his latest May 2022 release “The World of Marty Stuart.”

Find a full list of tour dates below. Stuart’s European tour dates will be supported by Nashville-based rising star Sam Williams, who released his debut album Glasshouse Children last year via Snakefarm in the UK on behalf of Mercury Nashville.
